Ever wonder how many searches per month occur for a keyword relating to your business? Or maybe what the seasonal trends are for keywords related to your business? Well Google has you covered with the Google Keyword Planner.
Google Keyword Planner is a free AdWords tool for advertisers that gives some insight into real search trends on Google. Instead of making educated guesses into what your customers are searching for when trying to find you, you can use actual data from Google.
Not sure how much to bid? Keyword Planner can assist with this as well by suggesting bids based on competition (how many others are bidding on the same word). The lower the amount of companies bidding on a keyword the cheaper it is, the more companies bidding on a specific keyword the more expensive the bid will be.
And by now I’m sure you can see how this will help for SEO purposes but I’ll run through it anyway. If you are bidding on keywords to display your ads (and there are only 3 ads at the top of Google search results) then there is a whole lot of organic results which are displayed. So, if your site ranks for keywords others are paying for then you get free traffic!
Using the Google Keyword Planner, you can find:
All data you find can be incorporated into website copy, product copy, blog post titles/copy and any other areas of your online content which is indexed by Google. If you are just starting out in the SEO world then this is the perfect place to begin building your SEO strategy and content strategy.
Once you have your AdWords account, you can access the keyword planner here adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner
