GCG Occupational Hygiene Platform

We partnered with GCG to develop Exposi into a scalable, full-stack Next.js platform that supports the entire occupational hygiene lifecycle.

Exposi brings together occupational hygiene planning, sampling, analysis and reporting into a single, connected system.

Designed to scale to large, global datasets, the platform replaces fragmented spreadsheets/tools with structured, efficient workflows for health risk assessment (HRA) and statistical analysis modules. By improving visibility, consistency, and accessibility of critical exposure data, users are better equipped to make informed decisions and manage compliance more efficiently. Exposi strengthens GCG’s position as a technology-enabled leader in occupational hygiene, transforming decades of expertise into a scalable, enterprise-grade SaaS platform that helps organisations protect worker health.

Solving disconnected hygiene workflows

Occupational hygiene data and compliance obligations are traditionally managed through fragmented tools and manual spreadsheets. This creates a significant gap for hygienists who must navigate a complex lifecycle – from planning and sampling to analysis and control – across multiple organisational levels. Without a unified system, teams struggle with inefficient data entry and a lack of real-time visibility into sample statuses or historical trends.

Relying on fragmented data and disconnected systems makes it difficult to identify exceedances, understand trends and implement timely corrective actions. A purpose-built solution was required to bring together critical hygiene workflows, including real-time exposure monitoring and integrated health risk reporting, providing the functional depth required for modern occupational hygiene management that generic off-the-shelf tools could not support.

Engineering the Exposi next.js platform

We adopted a phased, Agile delivery strategy to build a scalable, desktop-first environment designed for deep organisational logic. This architecture allows users to drill down from a corporate overview to specific work groups and hazards with professional-grade precision.

The platform is built on a full-stack Next.js framework, optimised for high-performance data handling and seamless cross-module integration. A key part of the delivery was engineering a unified interface that ingests outputs from GCG’s statistical packages. This allows users to view high-confidence metrics like UCL95 and UTL95 directly within their workflow. To ensure the system remained accessible to field users, we implemented bulk upload tools and the “Hygenie” AI chatbot for contextual support. We developed over 100 unique screens and modals to support the end-to-end plan-assess-sample-report process while maintaining a responsive and consistent user experience.

From consultancy to technology enabled hygiene management

The delivery of Exposi has marked a significant extension of GCG’s business model and supports the organisation’s broader Modern Hygiene approach. As Australia’s leading independent occupational hygiene consultancy, GCG recognised the opportunity to better integrate traditional hygiene practices, advances in real-time monitoring, and digital technology into a single platform designed specifically for occupational hygiene management.

With the development of Exposi, GCG established a dedicated technology division and created a new recurring revenue stream that complements its traditional consulting services. More importantly, Exposi provides the foundation for a more integrated and data driven approach to hygiene management for GCG, its clients and the profession more broadly.

By bringing monitoring data, assessments, controls and reporting together into a single source of truth, Exposi creates a centralised hygiene data intelligence capability that gives organisations greater visibility into exposures, risks and control effectiveness across their operations.

This enables hygienists and safety leaders in high-risk industries to move beyond a predominantly monitoring-focused approach and towards proactive hazard control, supporting faster, more informed decisions. This is the essence of a Modern Hygiene approach, combining technology, data and traditional hygiene practice to improve exposure control and worker health outcomes.

Exposi represents a new way for GCG to bring its expertise to market, integrating consulting, technology and real-time monitoring to deliver greater value at scale while strengthening how the organisation captures, protects and applies its intellectual property.

A platform for ongoing growth

Exposi continues to be actively developed as a dedicated product platform, with ongoing investment in new modules, integrations, and user workflows. Following its launch, we have remained a key delivery partner, supporting the platform through continued module development, performance optimisation, and ongoing support services to ensure stability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
